POI: FAROL DE SANTA MARTA (Lighthouse)
This lighthouse stands in a small fort with the same name. It was built in the middle of the 17th century on a rocky strip of land over the sea. It was part of the maritime defence of Cascais up to the 19th century. In 1762 it was modernized and started operating as a lighthouse in 1868 after losing its strategic interest.
