POI: ABELHEIRA SPA
Located in the vicinity of the Balsamão monastery and belonging to the Congregation of the Marian Fathers, the Abelheira springs were discovered around 1860. They are sulphurous springs which are excellent for rheumatism, neuralgia and dermatitis. It is said that there was already a rudimentary bathhouse in 1944. The construction of the current spa, a three floor building that also includes a hostel, started in 1960.
