Eating to one’s heart’s content

The Farta Pão restaurant is situated in the Cascais county, on the left side of the road to Malveira da Serra, 1,3 km after the Murches intersection. Although one can catch a glimpse from the road, it is somewhat hidden and one has to pay attention not to miss it. There is a large guarded parking lot.

It has a wide and spacious dining that opens to a patio where, weather permitting, one can have drinks and nibbles.

It is a restaurant that offers quality Portuguese traditional dishes in huge servings. You should therefore pay attention and avoid to be tempted by all the superb starters that are placed on the table since you could lose your appetite. But do not forget to try the mushrooms and the variety of cheese.

So close to the sea, all the variety of fish and seafood that can be found in this area is very well represented here. You should try for instance ‘açorda de gambas’ (a shrimp and bread pudding dish) or the codfish Lagareiro’s style.

But their great specialities are the meat dishes, where the ‘cozido à portuguesa’ (Portuguese stew) and the ‘cabrito assado à saloia’ (roast goat) truly stand out. The ‘cozido’ is one of the most representative dishes of the traditional Portuguese cooking and the version that is offered here is surely one of the best.

The desserts and the wine list are very satisfactory.

The service is competent and attentive.

It is advisable to book in advance.

It is precisely the combination of these factors that we find at the Azeite & Alho Restaurant owned by chef Ivo Loureiro.
